Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence!

1969 - 2009

Speakers Fund

A speakers fund has been established to enhance efforts by schools to increase the quality and profile of their own events during the year. In particular, it is an opportunity to seek funding to pay for a higher profile speaker or performers at conferences, presentations, and events and to enhance marketing efforts. The event should tie into the 40th year celebration by supporting the university's mission and/or highlighting excellence at IUPUI.

A 40th Year Celebration Steering Committee will insure all allocations meet the established guidelines, and that any allocation abides by the purpose of this fund. The committee is comprised of a number of faculty, staff and students representing nearly every school. Persons affiliated with the entity submitting a proposal will recuse themselves from voting on the proposal.

Grant Recipients

The 40th Anniversary Steering Committee is pleased to announce the second round of grant recipients for the 2009 Speaker's Fund. These wonderful events will engage students, faculty and the community. They will inform us, entertain us, and share a wealth of experience with our community.

Funding Guidelines

All funds have been awarded and schools and organizations will be notified if more funds become available. Any questions regarding this process may be forwarded to Jennifer Boehm at jrboehm@iupui.edu or 278-2664.

  1. Eligible organizations include IUPUI schools, departments, centers, divisions or student organizations.
  2. The funds should not be used to fill in funding gaps but rather to enhance an event so that a higher profile speaker or performer can be afforded and promoted.
  3. The event must take place during the 2009 calendar year.
  4. Marketing materials must indicate the event was funded with 40th Year Celebration funds. Where possible, the 40th Year Celebration mark should be used on all materials and promotions.
  5. While there is no set limit on the amount of each request, given the amount of funds available we do not anticipate funding requests above $5,000 per event for speakers or performers. Funds for enhanced marketing efforts generally will not exceed $1,000.
  6. Allocations cannot be used to fund honoraria to University staff or students for presenting programs for student activities or athletics.

The purpose of the IUPUI 40th Year Celebration Event Fund is to enhance existing events being organized by an IUPUI school, department, center, division or student organization taking place in 2009. In particular, it is an opportunity to provide funding to pay for a high profile speaker or performer at such events and to enhance marketing efforts. The event should tie into the 40th year celebration by supporting the university's mission and/or highlighting excellence at IUPUI.
